I graduated from Swansea University with a First Class Honours Degree in Law and American Studies.
During the final year of my degree, I studied for 6 weeks in California and gained excellent experience shadowing a Federal Court. This maintained my belief that a career in the legal profession was the path that I wanted to go down.
I subsequently undertook the Legal Practice Course at University and graduated with a Distinction. At the same time I also gained a Masters Degree in advanced drafting.
Upon leaving university in July 2016, I was lucky enough to gain my first legal job at Redkite Solicitors, as a Legal Advisor within the Residential Property Department. During this period I ran my own caseload including working on freehold sales and purchases, matrimonial transfers and leasehold transactions, under supervision. This role allowed me to gain excellent experience and to learn from some excellent practitioners.
In April 2017 I was awarded a training contract at the firm and became a Trainee Solicitor in May 2017. I moved into the Family Law Team working on care cases, attending pre-proceeding hearings, meeting with clients and advising them on their individual circumstances, again under supervision.
I then moved seats, as required under the rules of my training contract, and gained experience within our Employment Law Team. I was dealing regularly with HR Package clients, drafting invitations and scripts for disciplinary, sickness and redundancy hearings.
I am now in my final seat within the Wills & Probate team. My daily routine includes taking client instructions, preparing Wills, dealing with probate matters and completing Inheritance Tax Forms.
I am due to qualify as a Solicitor in May 2019 and hope very much to stay within Redkite Solicitors.
I am from the Carmarthenshire area and am a fluent Welsh speaker.
Outside of work my hobbies include travelling, spending time with family and friends and watching rugby.
It has been a brilliant process - you have restored my faith after a very bad experience last year with a terrible firm!
