Michael Clarke

Solicitor

I qualified as a solicitor in 1986 and for the past three decades have specialised solely in injury and clinical cases, particularly those that are severe and of high value.

I have extensive experience of all types of injury cases, dealing with thousands of claims against employers, public authorities, companies, individuals, healthcare trusts and businesses. I have successfully pursued and settled claims of all types and values, up to and including those of the highest severity. I have a particular interest in head and brain injuries, as well as multiple orthopaedic injuries, and am a former secretary of the North Devon branch of Headway, the national brain injury charity.

I pride myself on having a down-to-earth manner and a life-long aversion to jargon and legal-ese. I understand the importance of empathising with my clients and try to be easy to talk to, setting great store in ensuring complex or difficult issues are explained in plain language, whether in writing or in discussion.

I am a police-trained advanced motorcyclist and a former emergency rider for Freewheelers, a national charity delivering emergency and out-of-hours medical supplies for the NHS.

Married to my lovely wife since 1989 I have a teenage son who is embarking upon a musical career as a violist at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

Out of work I very much enjoy playing traditional Irish and Celtic music and play the accordion, whistle, bodhran and 5-string banjo. I also compete in archery competitions using the recurve bow.
